Jy Jimmie Flora Gabiola (b.1989, Manila PI) is a lens based, image making Poet living and working in the San Francisco Bay Area.  His practice explores personal & collective narratives surrounding the echoes of immigration. His work creates dialogue centered around the multiplicity of what being an American means today.

Episode 3: The Bay Area music scene through the eyes of 143 Kane

I interview my good friend and rapper 143 Kane. Kane is an up-and-coming artist from Vallejo, California. In this segment, we talk about the Vallejo music scene, what got him into rap, and the bay area music scene in general. We also talk about his approach to the music industry, his musical and artistic inspirations, his style of sound, and his plans for the future.

Episode 4: Ocean Vyoung’s Wisdom

An immersive listening experience that takes the audience on Yitong’s journey, and seeing the world through the eyes of her favorite poet, Ocean Vyoung. The show features recordings of Yitong’s daily life, including conversations with friends, asking question to her smart virtual assistant Alexa, as well as a reenactment of the devastating Ürümqi fire that occurred in China in 2022. Through this piece, Yitong hopes to bring the audience insight into the power of Ocean Vyoung’s wisdom and its ability to inspire and heal.

I met the man on a winter night. He said he was fed up with everything and wanted to disappear for a while. I never met him again until he was pulled up from a dirty man-made lake some time later. Between the noise and the illusion, I seemed to hear him saying some incomprehensible words to me again. When I came back to my senses, I was already standing in a room. On a faded letter, I finally saw his whole life.
